First electrified advertisement on Times Square appeared on the side of a bank at the corner of 46th Street and Broadway. From then on the lights got more and more bright and today they are taking up every square inch of space. 

New Yorkers are divided on the disneyfication some of would prefer the gritty, crime-ridden Times Square of old to the light show it's become but judge yourself.
